Privacy Policy
Venty is built around anonymity. We collect the smallest amount of data we can, store it in one place, and never sell or share it for advertising or analytics. This page explains exactly what we collect and why.
What we collect
You can browse Venty without signing in — in that case we collect nothing about you. If you sign in to post, react, or save confessions, we collect:
- Apple user identifier — a stable, app-specific token Apple gives us when you tap "Sign in with Apple." We use it to recognize you on return visits. It cannot be used to identify you outside of Venty.
- Email address — Apple may give us your real email or a private relay address (your choice during sign-in). We only use it to associate your account; we never send marketing.
- Handle — the @username you pick after signing in (3–10 lowercase letters and digits). This is your only public identifier on Venty.
- Confessions you post — the title and body of each confession. Confessions are stored without any link to your account so they remain anonymous. Once a confession is approved, neither we nor anyone else can connect it back to you.
- Reactions and bookmarks — which confessions you've reacted to (with an emoji) and saved. These are linked to your account so you can see them across devices.
How we use it
Only to make the app work:
- Keep you signed in across launches and devices.
- Show the right reactions and saved posts on your account.
- Display your @handle on comments and reactions where applicable.
- Moderate confessions before they appear publicly.
What we do not do
- No tracking, advertising, or analytics SDKs.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of any user data with third parties.
- No linking confessions back to user accounts. The two tables don't reference each other.
- No collection of device identifiers, location, contacts, photos, or microphone.
Where data is stored
Venty uses Supabase for its database and authentication. Data is hosted on Supabase's infrastructure in the EU. Static web pages (this one) and link-preview rendering are hosted on Cloudflare Pages.
Moderation
Every confession is reviewed by a human moderator before it appears in the public feed. Rejected confessions are deleted. Approved confessions are visible to anyone — including non-users via shared links — but never carry author identity.
Your rights
You can:
- Delete your account — sign out from the Profile tab and email us at hello@venty.social to request deletion. We'll erase your auth record, profile, reactions, and bookmarks within 7 days. Confessions you've posted remain (they have no link to your account anyway).
- Request a data export — email the address above and we'll send you everything tied to your account.
- Revoke Apple Sign-In access — open iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → Venty → Stop Using Apple ID.
Children
Venty is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. The App Store age rating for Venty is 17+ because confessions may include mature themes.
Changes
If we materially change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will also surface in the app.
